Your Friendly Neighborhood Cannabis Correspondent

As TV’s first Cannabis Correspondent, I chased down some of the most fascinating, funny, poignant, and flat-out wacky weed stories in America. Here are five that stuck with me—including two weed freedom fighters, Kal Penn, a church full of stoners, and a half-hour episode of The Cannabusiness Report, a TV series I helped create.

“Rosa Parks of Weed” | The epic and very funny story of Mike Boyer, the first person to purchase legal marijuana in the state of Washington. Why would anyone, let alone this guy, be called the “Rosa Parks of Weed?” Watch and find out.

“Marijuana Migrant” | I always enjoy digging into difficult stories. This one’s about Diane Fornabacher, a medical marijuana activist and patient who moved across the country to protect her children. Shout out to journalism legend Jorge Ramos, who aired this on his show.

“Midterm Mayhem with Kal Penn” | Getting to discuss marijuana legalization with the guy who played Kumar and then worked under President Obama—definitely a Cannabis Correspondent’s dream.

“The Cannabusiness Report: Washington State Edition” | This half-hour episode of the Cannabusiness Report is dear to my heart, because I was able to control the storytelling. I booked, researched, wrote and hosted it.

“Church of Cannabis” | Meet Bill Levin. Carpenter. Punk band manager. Indianapolis mayoral candidate. And the Grand Poohbah of the First Church of Cannabis. What’s that, you ask? We did too.
